AMU Fieldhouse Renovations
Full Renovation of AMU Gymnasium Facility
The Golisano Field House Renovation Project involved the complete removal of the existing 40,000-square-foot building envelope and systems, leaving only the concrete slab, structural steel frame, and electrical feeders in place. All mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were replaced as part of the scope.
The reconstruction included a 5,000-square-foot addition housing coaches’ offices and a training room. The new building envelope was constructed using decorative CMU block and insulated composite metal panels, topped with a structural standing-seam metal roof. Interior improvements featured two collegiate regulation basketball courts, separated by a custom operable partition wall branded with the school logo. Additional facilities included men’s and women’s spectator restrooms, home and visitor locker rooms for both men and women, and a dedicated referee locker room.
Integrating the new CMU block and composite panels with the existing structural steel proved challenging due to unforeseen conditions. DEC Contracting worked closely with the architect to resolve conflicts quickly and effectively, ensuring the project remained on schedule.
Because the owner was sales tax exempt, DEC implemented a Direct Material Purchase Program, generating over $134,000 in tax savings for the client.
The project was successfully completed with a high level of quality and coordination, delivering a modern athletic facility that met the client’s functional and aesthetic goals.
