DEC Contracting Group brings more than 100 years of combined experience in construction supervision, management and subcontracting negotiations. In fact, the last time that DEC Contracting Group, Inc. partnered with Youth Haven of Southwest Florida, the team brought home the 2018 Collier BIA Sand Dollar Award for Best Commercial Project.
Once again, DEC is pleased to partner with Youth Haven and expand the organization’s existing administration building.
Youth Haven of Southwest Florida is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency residential shelter for homeless children and teens. Most young people arrive at these shelters in a state of trauma after experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. Youth Haven offers a variety of programs designed to help them get back on their feet. The comprehensive care and community collaboration provide an immediate lifeline to an otherwise underserved segment of the population.
In support of this effort, DEC Contracting Group will construct a 1,350-square-foot extension to the existing administration center. Materials consist of concrete and masonry block. The punch list will include impact windows and doors, wood trusses, tile roofing and a stucco exterior. When complete, the interior space will provide valuable storage space, restroom and laundry facilities for the children and teens served by the Youth Haven administrative staff.
Partial funding for this nearly $350,000 project is provided by the Collier County Division of Community and Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. During construction, federal regulations will be strictly enforced, including Davis Bacon and Related Acts for wage rates.
